HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Actor, singer-songwriter and Kaneohe native Christie Brooke is bringing back the golden era of Waikiki for one night only with her show “Jazz in Waikiki” at the Blue Note on Sunday night.
The proud alumni of Ron Bright’s program at The Castle Performing Arts Center (CPAC) joined HNN’s Sunrise to talk about bringing original big band tunes to her island home and recording a new jazz EP “Jazz in Waikiki,” now available on Spotify, Youtube, and Apple Music.
Brooke is known for singing on ABC’s primetime hit TV show “High School Musical: Get in the Picture.” Her recent work includes shows with the Henry Kapono Foundation at Velvet Monkey and recording the new EP with local jazz musicians such as Gilbert Batangan, Jason Gay, and more.
Tonight’s Blue Note performance will feature special guest artists Mindy Smokestack and Ryan Perez, hula dancers, Tahitian dancers, a 10-piece band, lots of pink and more.
Audience members can expect island favorites and old Hollywood jazz with a blues twist.
Christie Brooke’s “Jazz in Waikiki” Big Band Show at Blue Note Hawaii starts at 7 p.m. Tickets range from $25 to $35. Doors open at 5 p.m.
