Compared to previous years, new feature recaps from the YouTube Music team have slowed down in 2025, but the latest April to August edition is now available.
The Activity feed now sends notifications for Radio Builder, Sound Search, Day Segment (e.g. Workout Mix), Jump Back In, and Podcasts, while New Release alerts will appear there.
Updates to Search mean that YTM results now filter out “third-party song compilations” that are over 30 minutes and “feature songs entirely from other artists.” Meanwhile, you’ll see artist monthly audience numbers and Ask Music radio suggestions.
When enabled, Consistent Volumes, or volume normalization, will adjust how loud tracks are. It aims “to be consistent and match industry standards,” and reduce “jarring volume changes between songs and when switching between different music services.”
Podcasts now have 2.5 and 3x playback speed options, as well as “Trim Silence” (on Android).
In May, Quick Picks on the Home feed was updated to suggest “content from artists you’ve recently been exposed to but haven’t intentionally sought out”
Song downloads now include lyrics on Android and iOS, while sharing lets you send an “image containing 1-5 lines of lyrics from a song, along with a link to that song.” There’s also GenAI Lyrics Sharing:

Continue where you left off: Ever get partway through a new release and forget to finish listening, or never reach the end of your gym playlist? The YouTube Music app now shows albums and playlists you’ve only partially finished in the Speed Dial section on Home, helping you quickly pick up where you left off.
Not Interested option on Web: Similar to the mobile app, you can now use a “Not interested” button on the YouTube Music website. This button is found in the context menu of items on the home page. If you click it, that item will be removed from your home page and will not be recommended to you again on Home.
Monthly Audience Numbers: If an artist has over 100,000 monthly listeners, their monthly audience count will now be included in the “Artist top listener trophy” badge you receive. This provides more context and recognition for your top listener status.
Custom Playlist Art on iOS: You can now choose a custom image to use as the thumbnail for your user-generated playlists on the iOS Music app. This feature brings iOS into parity with Android and the web, allowing for more personalization of your playlists.
In terms of integrations with third-party services:
Saving Songs from TikTok: YouTube Music now integrates with TikTok’s music saving feature. You can save songs you discover on TikTok directly to a dedicated “TikTok Songs” playlist in YouTube Music, or to any other new or existing playlist. Note: The first time you use this feature, you will be prompted to grant TikTok permission to view and manage your YouTube Music library.
TuneMyMusic Integration: We’ve partnered with TuneMyMusic to provide an in-app playlist transfer service. This includes a dedicated landing page accessible through the settings menu and Library tab.
Quick Access on Sony Headphones: YouTube Music is now integrated with Sony headphones and is launching with two features: “Quick Access,” which allows you to tap a button on your Sony headphones to quickly play “My Supermix,” and “Scene-based listening,” which can trigger “My Supermix” playback in YouTube Music based on activity detected by the headphones.
Linkplay Wiim Amp integration: YouTube Music is now integrated with LinkPlay on a selection of their WiiM brand of devices. This integration supports specific WiiM streamers and amplifiers, allowing users to play YouTube Music directly on these devices.
Link with TV Code on Android: This feature, already available on other platforms, is now enabled for YouTube Music on Android. It allows you to connect to Cast devices (like smart TVs) using a TV code, which is particularly useful when devices aren’t visible on your Wi-Fi network, such as in hotel setups.
New shelves introduced since April include:
- Other Performances Shelf: Will appear “for song-related searches with at least three videos” on smart TVs and gaming consoles
- Artist-made playlists Shelf: “Highlights playlists curated by the artist themselves” on all Official Artist Channel (OAC) artist pages
- Quick start Shelf: Appearing in the Home feed, this “allows you to quickly start a radio” from “8 randomly selected artists from your profile that you have a high affinity for”
- Updated ‘From the community’ Shelf: “Now displays content as a swipeable carousel of container cards, rather than a standard grid carousel”
- Live Performances Shelf: “Showcases the artist’s most popular official live performance videos uploaded by their Official Artist Channel” on their detail page”
- Most Commented Tracks Shelf: “Highlights personalized songs that are generating a lot of trending discussion among fans, aiming to boost community engagement.” Appears in Home feed on Android and iOS
