Mysuru: The religious ceremonies connected with the private Dasara festival conducted by the Mysuru royal family commenced at the Mysuru Palace on Monday.According to palace sources, the rituals started early in the morning. The ritual of fixing the Simha to the golden throne, marking the beginning of the celebrations, was held between 5.30am and 5.45am. Tying the sacred (Kankana Dharana) to the scion of the royal family, Yaduveer Wadiyar, was held at the Chamundeshwari Sannidhi at Chamundi Thotti between 9.55am and 10.15am.Later, the Kankana Dharana ritual was observed by his wife, Trishikha Kumari Wadiyar, at Vani Vilas Devaramane.Preliminary pujas began with a Kalasha Puje, invoking the blessings of Ganapati, Kuladevate Chamundeshwari, Vishnu, Shiva, Dikpalakas, and Navagrahas, after which puja to the throne was performed. Yaduveer ascended the throne at the auspicious time between 12.42pm and 12.58pm in accordance with tradition and conducted Khas Durbar symbolically.The rituals included ‘ashirvachana’ from the purohits and the acceptance of prasada from Parakala Mutt, Sringeri Mutt, Sri Chamundeshwari Temple, Chamundi Hills, Srikanteshwara Temple, Nanjangud, Uttanahalli Sri Jwalamukhi Tripurasundari Temple, and all the temples within the palace fort.The morning rituals concluded with the performance of ‘aarati’ and ‘padapuja’ to Yaduveer by Trishikha.
