The Weeknd, who was initially announced as part of this year’s star-studded participants, posted to his Instagram stories on Monday that he wouldn’t be able to take the stage at Saturday’s event at New York’s Central Park for “personal reasons.”
“I regret to share that, due to personal reasons, I am unable to perform at Global Citizen. Thank you to my fans for taking action with them, as I believe in their mission deeply,” he wrote. “Thank you for your understanding and support.”
It was later revealed that Cardi B, who’s set to release her long-awaited second album Am I The Drama? on Friday, would be joining this year’s lineup.
