The post Howard Stern Cancels Disney+ in Protest of Jimmy Kimmel’s Suspension appeared first on Consequence.

Howard Stern has revealed that he has canceled his Disney+ subscription in protest of Jimmy Kimmel Live! being pulled indefinitely off the air. The radio host also spoke out against government overstep, citing his own experiences with the FCC.

“Someone’s gotta step up and be fucking saying, ‘Hey, enough. We’re not gonna bow,’” Stern said on his SiriusXM show Monday morning (via The Hollywood Reporter). “Now it might sound stupid, but the thing I did this morning, I’m canceling my Disney+. I’m trying to say with the pocketbook that I do not support what they’re doing with Jimmy.”

At the heart of Kimmel’s suspension was FCC Chairman Brendan Carr threatening ABC over comments the late night host made about the death of Charlie Kirk. Stern has a long history of scrutiny from the government agency, with the FCC handing out a total of $2.5 million in fines for “indecent” content to radio station owners who carried his show between 1990 and 2004. This ultimately led to him leaving terrestrial radio for Sirius.

“I just know when the government begins to interfere, when the government says, I’m not pleased with you, so we’re gonna orchestrate a way to silence you,” Stern continued. “It’s the wrong direction for our country. And I should know, I’ve been involved in something like this, and now ABC is put in the same position, and it’s unfortunate that ABC even has to be in this position. They shouldn’t have to be in this position. I feel for them too, in this.”

Fellow late night hosts David Letterman, Stephen Colbert, Jay Leno, and Jon Stewart have spoken out in support of Kimmel since he was suspended on September 17th.

On Sunday, Sarah McLachlan, Jewel, and surprise guest Olivia Rodrigo refused to perform at a scheduled concert tied to the Hollywood premiere of a new Lilith Fair documentary, standing with Kimmel “in solidarity in support of free speech.”
