ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 22, 2025 /Standard Newswire/ — In honor of the Jewish New Year, Grammy Award–winning artist Kaya Jones has released a moving video performance of “The Shema.”

Filmed at Forge Film Studio, the performance weaves together passages from Deuteronomy 6:4–9, Deuteronomy 11:13–21, and Numbers 15:37–40—the foundation of the traditional prayer recited twice daily by observant Jews as a declaration of God’s Oneness.

Jones, who identifies as a Messianic Jew, first encountered The Shema while studying at Hebrew Bible College. Its meaning deepened during her time in Israel, where she served military and hostage families. To reflect the prayer’s sacred resonance, the video incorporates projected imagery of the Western Wall, a historic site of pilgrimage and prayer.

“The Shema places the Lord first above all else,” Jones says, “and that’s a conviction I believe all believers should pursue.”

The prayer also holds significance for Christians. Jesus cited it when naming the greatest commandment in Matthew 22:37: to love God with all one’s heart, soul, and mind. Many Christian traditions include The Shema in worship, affirming God’s unity and connecting with the ancient roots of their faith.

As Rosh Hashanah begins, Jones hopes her rendition will inspire reflection and unity.

“It feels like we need to be in prayer without ceasing,” she shares. “No matter where we are from, we should all be praying for each other.”

The Shema video is available exclusively on Shiloah.tv, Jones’ free streaming platform. It is also featured on her latest album, The Royal Collection, which has been submitted for Grammy consideration.
