Katy Perry opened up about her past year while reflecting on her 2024 album 143 in a new letter to her fans
Perry shared the letter on Instagram on Monday, Sept. 22, just as she concluded the South American leg of the Lifetimes Tour
“It would be negligent of me to not acknowledge the incredible impact this last year has had on me,” the pop star wrote
Katy Perry is opening up about her past year in a a new letter to her fans.
In an Instagram post shared on Monday, Sept. 22, Perry, 40, reflected on the anniversary of the release of her 2024 album 143.
“You KCs know I’m not one for anniversary posts,” the lengthy caption began. “I tend to be mostly a futurist but it would be negligent of me to not acknowledge the incredible impact this last year has had on me.”
“Whatever comes next, I’m letting it unfold naturally. No forcing, no controlling — just trusting the angels, the fans, and the music to guide me where I’m meant to go,” she wrote later in the post, seemingly alluding to a year of change in her personal life.
In June, Perry and former fiancé Orlando Bloom split after nine years together. The former couple share daughter Daisy Dove, 5.
Perry’s post included behind-the-scenes photos and videos of the making of the album and Perry rehearsing onstage for the Lifetimes Tour. The tour is an encapsulation of Perry’s discography, including smash hits like “Firework,” “The One That Got Away” and “California Gurls.”
She went on to describe the album as an “I love you” to her fans. “Records are snapshots of an artist trying to tell their story of where they are now or have been, and hope someone will hear themselves in some of the messages,” the post continued.
Perry added that her fans have joined her on the “rollercoaster” of her career and most recent album release, and thanked them for “the community we are and growing to become.”

The “Teenage Dream” singer went on to reflect further: “History is important, we learn from history, we are reminded of how to and what not to do when we look back. We celebrate the wins and reflect on the losses. All of it is valuable.”
Perry also spoke on the nature of her evolving fame, writing, “Through my years in the spotlight, I have been beloved, tested and tried. That’s the journey. I am blessed to know that there’s always two sides to each coin, and I learn that even when I hit tails, somehow through it all, I keep making my wishes.”

She concluded with an anecdote about a friend who once gifted her a book titled What Katy Did Next, vowing to continue “to move forward, and to dream.”
Perry wrapped the South American leg of the Lifetimes Tour, and will head to Europe next. Her next show will take her to the SSE Arena in Belfast, Ireland on Oct. 4.
