When Kelli Murray selected a Camila Cabello song for her father-daughter dance at her wedding in Iowa City, she would’ve never guessed who would make a guest appearance for her big day.
Two viral videos on TikTok show Cabello in Iowa serenading Murray and the rest of her wedding crowd on Sept. 20.
Murray’s cousin posted two TikToks about the experience. The first video, with more than 60,000 likes and 590,000 views, includes Cabello talking about how she recently met the family. The second video, with more than 1 million views, shows Murray and her father sharing the father-daughter dance to a live performance by Cabello.
How did Camila Cabello end up singing at a wedding in Iowa?
The day before Murray’s wedding, she was with her family at a hotel where she ran into Cabello. Murray told Cabello that she planned to use one of Cabello’s songs for the father-daughter dance. The introduction led to Cabello offering to sing at Murray’s wedding at the Walker Homestead Farm and Winery in Iowa City on Sept. 20.
“We kind of planned this, and it was a little last-minute kind of thing that we put together,” Cabello said in the TikTok. “I’m really honored to be a part of this moment for you, Kelli. I am happy to be a part of specifically the father-daughter dance moment because I’m such a daddy’s girl.”
The Register reached out to spokespeople with Cabello as to why she was in Iowa over the weekend, but has yet to hear back. Attempts to reach Murray were also unsuccessful.
What song did Camila Cabello sing at an Iowa wedding?
Murray chose “First Man” as the song for her father-daughter dance on her wedding. Cabello wrote the song for when she gets married, she said. The song talks about Cabello’s father and his love for her and how he was the first man who really loved her.
When Cabello met Murray and her father, she told the wedding crowd she could tell the two shared a special relationship. The song holds a close place in Cabello’s heart, who considers herself “a daddy’s girl,” according to the video.
“I feel like your dad, if you are lucky, is your first love, is your first hero,” Cabello said. “And he’s the man that kind of sets the stage for, you know, the next man in your life.”
Cabello even commented on the video of her singing to Murray.
“I’m honored I was a part of your family’s special day, u guys are precious,” Cabello’s comment stated.

Grammy-nominated Cabello is a singer, songwriter and actress. She broke onto the Billboard Hot 100 with her smash hit “Havana” featuring Young Thug. Other songs by Cabello include “Never Be the Same,” which has more than 1 billion streams on Spotify and “Seniorita” with more than 3 billion streams/
Born in Cuba, Cabello has won dozens of awards, including two Latin Grammy Awards. Cabello just concluded her Yours, C tour for her fourth studio album, C, XOXO. The tour’s last show was on Sept. 14 in São Paulo, Brazil.
