Fourteen-time Grammy winner Taylor Swift is returning to the big screens with her recently announced film, The Official Release Party of a Showgirl. From presale figures, it appears Swifties aren’t holding back their love, jumping straight into purchasing tickets for her special event, which will be in theaters for just one week.
The 89-minute theatrical event will feature the world premiere of the music video for “The Fate of Ophelia”, some never-before-seen behind-the-scenes footage, brand-new lyric videos, and Swift’s “cut-by-cut” personal explanations of what inspired the new songs.
According to a new report from Deadline, the film logged $15 million in presales within its first 24 hours. And as it has, the phenomenon appears to not stop anytime soon, with opening weekend projections ranging between $30 million and $50 million.
These figures follow the impressive trajectory set by Swift’s 2023 album film titled Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, which became the highest-grossing concert film of all time, amassing $267.1 million worldwide.
Interestingly, The Official Release Party of a Showgirl will release alongside her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, containing 12 songs, which—fun fact— also happens to be her lucky number.
Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl will run in theaters from Friday, October 3, to Sunday, October 5, through 540 AMC theaters.
