Variety has announced its 10 Actors to Watch for 2025, a franchise launched in 1998. The list has included more than 35 Academy Award winners and nominees, including Mahershala Ali, Timothée Chalamet and Brie Larson. This year’s roster spotlights up-and-coming and breakthrough actors, many of whom appear in awards season films this year, including “One Battle After Another,” “Sinners” and “Sentimental Value.”
Honorees will be profiled in the Oct. 8 issue of Variety and celebrated at a brunch on Oct. 19 at the Newport Beach Film Festival Honors presented by Visit Newport Beach. “We’re thrilled to once again partner with Variety to showcase this year’s 10 Actors to Watch at the Newport Beach Film Festival Honors Brunch,” said Gregg Schwenk, CEO and co-founder of the festival. “Each of these rising stars brings a unique voice and energy to the screen. This year’s 10 Actors To Watch are:
Milly Alcock
The star of the Netflix hit “Sirens” will take on the title role in the DC Universe’s “Supergirl,” coming in 2026.
Ella Anderson
Anderson will be seen later this year in “Song Song Blue” opposite Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman.
Miles Caton
The actor/musician broke through with his first film role as Sammie in Ryan Coogler’s hit “Sinners.”
Edmund Donovan
Donovan won a Drama Desk and Obie Award for his work in “Greater Clements” on stage and stars opposite Willem Dafoe in the upcoming film “Late Fame.”
Chase Infiniti
After making her TV debut in “Presumed Innocent,” Infiniti moved to Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another,” opposite Leonardo DiCaprio and Sean Penn, in her film debut.
Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas
The Norwegian actor is earning raves for her performance as the level-headed sister in Joachim Trier’s “Sentimental Value.”
Jay Lycurgo
The British thespian stars opposite Cillian Murphy in “Steve” and will reteam with the Oscar-winner for the upcoming “Peaky Blinders” film “The Immortal Man.”
Guillaume Marbeck
The French actor makes his film debut playing Jean Luc-Godard in Richard Linklater’s “Nouvelle Vague.”
Tonatiuh
Following roles in “Vida” and “Carry-On,” the actor stars opposite Diego Luna and Jennifer Lopez in the film adaptation of “The Kiss of the Spider Woman.”
Mari Yamamoto
The “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” and “Pachinko” actor is charming audiences with a supporting turn opposite Brendan Fraser in “Rental Family.”
