Cardi B claims Offset is holding up their divorce proceedings over property and finances.
During a livestream on X Spaces on Monday (Sept. 22), the Brimcess sounded off about her ongoing divorce proceedings with the Migos alum as heard in the video clip below.
“The only reason why I’m still married is because somebody wants me to pay for their taxes,” she said during the stream, without calling out Offset by his name. “Y’all wanna know the tea? The only way I can get out of my marriage is if I pay for somebody else’s taxes, even though I pay for my own, and give them one of my properties. I’mma fight for that. This is not no love shit. I’m not gonna stop living my life.”
Cardi opened the stream in response to a wave of criticism after announcing she’s expecting her fourth child—her first with boyfriend Stefon Diggs, just days before the release of her new album Am I the Drama?
One of those critics included The Read podcast co-host Crissle West, who said that children “need parents who are very mindful and deliberate about bringing [them] into the world choosing to guide you into adulthood.”
“Yo mama out here giving her pu**y to whoever the f**k she wants to and keeping whatever y’all drop off in her fucking uterus is crazy,” West said on the podcast.
“Also, stop trying to make it seem like I got a hundred gazillion baby daddies. I have three kids with one man that I got married with,” Cardi also said on Monday’s stream. “Yes, I’m having a baby with somebody else. So what that happens, it’s life.
“Let me tell you something, I did things the correct way the first time. I fell in love. I got two rings in my finger. I lasted seven years, seven years that I didn’t have to last with somebody with. I lasted seven years in a marriage. Stop saying, oh, but you’re still married. No, I’m legally separated.”
Elsewhere in the stream, Cardi said the toll of her relationship with Offset required her to seek an unspecified treatment.
“Y’all don’t know half of the shit,” she exclaimed. “I had to go to a fuckign hospital because I couldn’t take it no more … When your management and your label is getting together because they are concerned, it’s time to go. When it’s affecting your work and you can’t even record, it’s time to go. And I left. Goddamn.”
In May 2025, Offset reportedly amended his divorce petition to request spousal support from Cardi. While an exact amount wasn’t specified, Offset was also reported to be seeking joint custody of their three children: six-year-old Kulture, three-year-old Wave, and their infant daughter Blossom. His petition supposedly requested that Cardi’s home be designated as the primary residence for their children.
The former couple began dating in early 2017 and secretly married in September of that year. Cardi filed for divorce last July.
