Actor Ethan Hawke got his big break as a teenager while working on “Dead Poets Society” with Robin Williams in the late 1980s.
Hawke is still friends with many of the other school-age actors he worked with on that movie, including Josh Charles. Hawke and Charles also worked together a few years ago on a Taylor Swift video for her “Fortnight” song which features Post Malone.
While on “The Rich Eisen Show” Hawke on Monday recounted that Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce made an appearance on set one day and Charles was really engaged.
Charles, who is a big fan of the Ravens, pestered Kelce for much of that visit about the Chiefs’ 17-10 win in the AFC Championship Game in 2024 in Baltimore.
Apparently, Charles thought there was a bad call that went against the Ravens.
“And he’s bringing up this call,” Hawke said. “I’m like, ‘Josh let it go, let it go.’ And he’s like, ‘But seriously, didn’t you think that was a bad call? I mean, you didn’t think that was the right call?’
“And Travis is like, ‘Hey, listen, you know, you’re a Ravens fan. You’re going to see it through those eyes. We just take what we can get.’ He’s being super polite.”
Eisen interjected: “Travis was.”
“Yeah,” Hawke said. “It was super respectful, really wonderful young man, and he’s just trying to be classy.
“But Josh, was like, ‘Admit it’s a bad call! Admit it was a bad call! I can tell the way you’re not saying (that it was a bad call).”
It was a funny clip.
