On Tuesday (23 September 2025), Prince William and Kate Middleton returned to Southport to meet those affected by the July 2024 attack – which resulted in the tragic deaths of three young girls – and pay their respects. Below, we recount what happened during the royal couple’s visit.
The Prince & Princess Of Wales Return To Southport
The Prince and Princess of Wales marked their second visit to Southport this week to show their ongoing support to the community following the devastating knife attack that took place last July. The attack, which took place during a Taylor Swift-themed dance class, claimed the lives of three girls: Alice da Silva Aguiar, Bebe King and Elsie Dot Stancombe.
As part of their visit, the royal couple visited Farnborough Road Infant and Junior School, where Elsie had been a pupil. Here they met 430 students from the schools, as well as teachers and the young girl’s family.
They then went on to visit Churchtown Primary School to see the new commemorative playground that has been created in honour of former pupils Bebe and Alice.
‘A deeply moving visit to Southport remembering Alice, Bebe and Elsie,’ the Prince and Princess of Wales commented in an Instagram post. ‘To see firsthand how the community, their schools and families have come together in the face of such loss – creating spaces of love, connection and hope – was incredible.
‘Projects like the new playground at Churchtown Primary School, shaped in the girls’ memory, are places of healing that will support their classmates and bring people together for the future.’
‘To everyone in the Southport community affected by the incident last year, you will never be forgotten,’ they added in another post, ‘and the legacy of love and kindness built here will continue to bring people together for years to come and honour the memories of Bebe, Alice and Elsie.’
The visit marks almost one year since the Prince and Princess of Wales’ first visit to Southport, which took place in October 2024. On this prior occasion, they spent time with the bereaved families and the dance teacher who was present during the attack, as well as the emergency service workers who responded to the attack.
What Did Kate Middleton Wear On Her Visit To Southport?
The Princess of Wales took on the cold snap with a suitably chic autumn fit, consisting of charcoal-hued tailoring and accessories and a pastel pink blouse. The royal’s look was also made up almost entirely of British brands (with the only exception being a trusty pair of Hugo Boss heels).
Kate Middleton tapped high street favourite Jigsaw for her outerwear choice, pulling on the brand’s Maxi City Coat – a long grey wool coat with notched wide lapels – and teaming it up with a pair of matching wide-legged tailored trousers (which may also be Jigsaw find, or from one of her go-to labels Victoria Beckham, Reiss or Whistles). In her hand, she carried one of her go-to handbag brands, Smythson, opting for the label’s signature Mini Lytton Bag.
She introduced a pop of colour with a soft pink tie-neck blouse from Burberry, featuring an oversized silk crepe bow at the neck. This is reportedly the second time the royal has worn the item – the first being on a trip to Boston in December 2022.
For jewellery, the Princess of Wales donned her new ring stack – made up of five sparkling rings, including the engagement ring passed down by her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana – alongside a pair of pearl drop earrings from Annoushka and hoops by Kiki McDonough.
