For many action fans, at least one John Woo film ranks among their all-time favorites. However, for decades, his admirers in the U.S. had limited access to his early Hong Kong masterpieces, which introduced his signature balletic shootouts and larger-than-life heroes. That changed earlier this year when Shout! Factory announced it had acquired the Golden Princess catalog of 1980s and 1990s gems, finally making Woo’s defining works available to U.S. and international audiences.
