Who’s Eric Church
The 48-year-old gained recognition in music first as a songwriter. He eventually signed with a Nashville music publisher who also worked with stars including Taylor Swift and Miranda Lambert.
His first song, “How ‘Bout You,” dropped in 2006 but he didn’t find commercial success until the 2011 release of his album “Chief.” The album reached No. 1 on country and Billboard charts, with hits like “Drink in My Hand” and “Springsteen.”

More hits followed in the last decade, including “Talladega,” “Record Year,” “Like A Wrecking Ball” and “Mr. Misunderstood.”
Church is known especially for his trademark sunglasses and support of cannabis and philanthropy. After Hurricane Helene devastated western North Carolina where Church is from, he helped the region to recover and joined with fellow country star Luke Combs to organize “Concert for Carolina” in October 2024 with proceeds benefitting hurricane vicitms.
The concert raised more than $24 million for Helene relief.
More recently, Church performed his newly released single “Johnny” on “The Late Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” Church discussed how he wrote the song after watching his children enter school while reflecting on the six people who were killed at a Nashville school in 2023
“Johnny” is on his latest album, “Evangeline vs. the Machine,” which dropped in May.
