Cardi B Calls Herself ‘Hip-Hop’s Britney Spears’: Here’s Why

A founder of the legendary rock band Queen dropped a major hint about the potential for a Las Vegas residency in a new interview, claiming, “My mind’s working.”

Brian May spoke to Rolling Stone, where he revealed his thoughts about the possibility of a long-term engagement at The Sphere for Queen. The venue is where many of the most iconic bands in music history, including The Eagles, Phish, Dead & Company, and U2, have recently taken the stage.

“ I’m very keen on the Sphere,” May revealed. “It’s got my mind working.”

“I sat there watching the Eagles, thinking, ‘We should do this. The stuff that we could bring to this would be stupendous.’ So, yeah, I would like to do it. We’re having conversations.”

Brian May still wants to ‘play shows’ but touring may be out of the question

A residency at The Sphere could give Brian May the performing outlet he needs while keeping him off the road. After five decades of that type of life, he’s reportedly had enough.

“ I’ve had 50 years of touring and there’s a part of me that thinks it’s enough,” May admitted to Rolling Stone. “I don’t like the idea that you wake up in your hotel room and you’re trapped.”

“I had a few experiences recently where stuff happened at home with my family, and I could not go home. It got under my skin, and I just thought, ‘I’m not sure if I want this anymore.’ I feel like I’ve given up my freedom too many times.”

He concluded, “So my feeling at the moment is I don’t want to tour as such. I still want to play shows. I still want to innovate.”

The band’s iconic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ song turns 50 in October

The official Queen website reported that to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their watershed song, “Bohemian Rhapsody,” there will be reissues of the single and the album from which it hailed, A Night at the Opera.

A Night at the Opera was originally released in November 1975. It marked a defining moment for Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon, solidifying Queen’s status as rock icons.

“Bohemian Rhapsody” became one of Queen’s most iconic and beloved songs. Its innovative structure and theatrical style helped redefine what a rock single could be.

The song topped the UK Singles Chart twice, in 1975 and 1991. It would go on to become the biggest-selling single of the 1970s in the UK, according to Brian May’s official website.

May said the song’s mystery endears it to music fans. “People still ask me what ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ is all about,” he said. “And I say I don’t know.” Any revelation, he suggested, “loses the myth and ruins a kind of mystique that people have built up.”

There has not been a confirmation that Queen will play The Sphere. The band’s current lineup includes Brian May, Roger Taylor, and Adam Lambert. John Deacon retired from music in 1997.
