The final trailer for the second Wicked film has dropped, and fans are already buzzing about it, using character-inspired lingo to declare they’re “obsessulated,” in a nod to Glinda’s quirky vocabulary.
Wicked: For Good continues the tale of Oz’s witches, Glinda and Elphaba (Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo), once inseparable friends who now stand on opposite sides in their fight for right. In a new trailer, their conflict deepens as they grapple with where their relationship stands while destiny pulls them in opposing directions.
The new film, which follows the second act of the long-running Broadway musical, explores what happens once Elphaba makes it her goal to expose the wizard’s misdeeds, thus becoming an outcast in Oz. On the other hand, Glinda aligns herself with the wizard (Jeff Goldblum) and Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh), achieving power and respect beyond her wildest dreams.

“‘I’M OBSESSULATED,’ Me too, girl,” wrote one follower. “‘Just look at me, not with your eyes, with theirs’ is a criminally well-written line,” penned a second fan of a scene where Elphaba and Glinda face off.
“I’m already sat at the theatre. the theatre employees want me to leave, but are too scared because I’m so sat,” joked a third Wicked fan of being ready to watch the film, months ahead of its release. A fourth wrote, “I don’t know what it is about this movie that makes it so special, but I’m getting emotional just by watching the trailer.”
Wicked fans can expect even more surprises in this outing. There will be references to the Wizard of Oz film, the first film (the Ozdust ballroom sequence is revisited), and new songs, penned by Wicked composer Stephen Schwartz, especially for the sequel, reports Playbill (per The Messenger).
“The storytelling required it, and therefore they were created. The intention was that they were organic and not imposed on the movie,” Schwartz explained of the additional songs.
“There’s new stuff that I think the fans will enjoy. But our hope and intention is that the people to whom the story and the show are important will not in any way be disappointed, but will be thrilled by what they will see and the new stuff that’s been added and the way film is used,” he concluded.
Songs that may also be heard in the second installment, from the Broadway musical, are “No One Mourns the Wicked (reprise),” “Thank Goodness,” “The Wicked Witch of the East,” “Wonderful,” “I’m Not That Girl (reprise),” “As Long As You’re Mine,” “No Good Deed,” “March of the Witch Hunters,” and “For Good.”
