“One Battle After Another,” the film partly shot in El Paso, is set to release in theaters on Friday.
The highly anticipated thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Benicio del Toro is hitting the big screen worldwide on Friday, Sept. 26, and is reportedly expected to earn upwards of $20 million during its debut weekend. The Warner Bros. film directed by Paul Thomas Anderson is already creating a buzz, with stellar reviews from critics, earning it a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The A-list actors were first spotted in the Sun City in summer 2024, shooting the mysterious, unnamed movie, only known as the “BC Project.”
DiCaprio and del Toro sparked excitement among El Pasoans after the pair were captured enjoying the city, including sitting down for a meal at Cafe Central, while a smiling del Toro was seen attending a Chihuahuas baseball game.

Not all the scenes were shot in El Paso — filming began in January 2024 in California, according to Variety. The production was rumored to cost upwards of $100 million, with the most recent estimate reaching as high as $140 million, Variety reported.
DiCaprio, del Toro share thoughts on El Paso in recent interview
The stars recently made comments about their love for El Paso during a recent interview with native El Pasoan-turned-Houston on-air personality Dave Morales, which was shared by El Paso Fit Fam.
“El Paso was great,” del Toro said. “We went to see the Chihuahuas play and that downtown just added a whole texture to the film…that Downtown El Paso is really prominent in the film and its cool to see it”
DiCaprio also noted how some scenes were filmed at stores in El Paso, with real people.
“A shoutout to the storeowners that let us into their stores,” DiCaprio said. “We get to integrate ourselves… and work with people that have those jobs. It really shaped the course of the movie.”
What is ‘One Battle After Another’ about?
The film is written and directed by acclaimed director Paul Anderson, and its premise is described as a group of ex-revolutionaries reuniting to rescue one of their own daughters after an evil enemy resurfaces after 16 years, according to IMDB.
