Josh Brolin, fresh off the success of the horror feature Weapons, has boarded Wade Eastwood‘s action comedy film. This will be Eastwood’s first feature as a director. He has previously served as second unit director and stunt coordinator on Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Jumanji: The Next Level, and more.
Josh Brolin to lead Wade Eastwood’s debut feature Mister
Brolin will star in Eastwood’s directorial debut, Mister, and produce the movie through Brolin Productions, Deadline reported. Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee will also produce for Thunder Road Films. The company’s previous credits include the John Wick franchise projects, the Sicario movies, and 2025’s Fight or Flight. Nicki Cortese and Nick Inglis developed the screenplay.
According to its logline, Mister revolves around a man (Brolin) who “wakes up in a strange house covered in blood and comes to realize his true identity while fighting off contract killers from his past—including everyone from his exes to his best friend.” Hoping to escape, the man “teams up with his estranged daughter who has also ended up in the family business, but they will need to repair their relationship in order to survive.”
Brolin has had an incredible last few years as an actor. He portrayed Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Gurney Halleck in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune movies. In 2025, he will also appear in the upcoming Wake Up Dead Man, the third entry in Rian Johnson’s Knives Out film series, and Edgar Wright’s The Running Man.
In a September 25 statement, Eastwood said that getting the chance to work with Brolin “is everything I could have hoped for.” He added, “His presence and gravitas define Mister and bring the film to life in every way. What excites me most about this project is the depth of the characters and complexity of their relationships, which allows me to build action around story, without ever losing the intensity the genre demands.”
Mister currently doesn’t have an official release date.
