It is officially fall this week, and shoulder season events with music are taking place at various local beaches. But the biggest and boldest of them this weekend will take place Friday through Sunday, Sept. 26-28, as the Ocean City Inlet hosts the third annual Oceans Calling festival.
Oceans Calling is loaded with big names all around
The star power will be out in force again this year with sets by more than three-dozen national rock ’n’ roll, pop and R&B acts. The fest sold out months ago, and an estimated 55,000 music fans from throughout the country are set to attend each day, with many keeping a close eye on local weather forecasts.
The Friday, Sept. 26 kickoff will include Lenny Kravitz, Nelly, the Black Crowes and headliner Green Day (which will close things out at 9:15 p.m.). This is one of Green Day’s last few shows of its multi-year stadium tour which has celebrated the anniversaries of both its “American Idiot” and “Dookie” albums.
The Oceans Calling lineup Saturday, Sept. 27 will feature Good Charlotte, En Vogue, Vampire Weekend, Noah Kahan and more. The festival will close things out Sunday, Sept. 28 with acts including Ziggy Marley, DEVO, Train, Weezer and Fall Out Boy.
No rest for the festival fan with Country Calling right up next
The massive stage and equipment rigs will stay up at the Inlet for the festival’s sister event, Country Calling, which will take place there Friday through Sunday, Oct. 3-5. Headliners at that one will include Carrie Underwood, Luke Combs, Brooks & Dunn and Luke Bryan.
Fager’s Island’s popular deck parties wrapping up in Ocean City
Also next week in OC, the Monday deck parties at Fager’s Island will wrap up for the year with local rock favorite Full Circle performing at 5 p.m. Sept. 29. Fager’s is also selling tickets for next month’s annual Fall Wine Fest. That will occur from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18 with live music by the disco group Groovalicious ($80).
Get in on last chance to see season of Grateful Dead tributes at Burley Oak
In nearby Berlin, the Burley Oak Brewing Company will host the final installment of its Summer Of The Dead 2025 concerts series this weekend. Tribute band Lovelight will pay homage to the music of the Grateful Dead at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27 ($25). Tickets are also on sale for Burley Oak’s annual Controlled Chaos beer festival, which this year will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8 ($40).
Bottle & Cork hosts weekend full of cover shows after ‘banner summer’
In Dewey Beach, the seasonal Bottle & Cork nightclub will close things out with a weekend of cover band music after what owner Alex Pires said was a banner summer.
At 8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, the stage will be graced with the return of Bayside Tigers: Saved By The ’90’s. The Cork’s yearly closing party will kick off with the Saturday Afternoon Jam at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, with seven hours of music continuing until 1 a.m. Four bands will alternate sets: Kono Nation, Cat 5, Klepto Radio and So Fetch.
As usual, the Cork will reopen for one night only Wednesday, Dec. 31 for its annual New Year’s Eve bash. Tickets are still available for the reunion by former favorite Mr. Greengenes ($80). The group played a sold-out show at the 1,200-capacity Cork just last month.
