Prince William traveled to Balmoral Castle in Scotland this week to spend private time with his father, King Charles, according to British media reports. Per The Sun, the Prince of Wales was photographed Tuesday arriving at Aberdeen airport after visiting families in Southport with his wife, Kate Middleton.
He reportedly flew north to join the King at the royal family’s Highland estate. Charles arrived at Balmoral Castle for his annual summer vacation in mid-August, which is later than when his late mother, Queen Elizabeth, usually arrived at Balmoral. But he is expected to stay at the castle until the end of the month. Both King Charles and Prince William were in London last week for the Duchess of Kent’s funeral and U.S. President Donald Trump’s state visit to the UK.
It is the third year Charles and William have set aside such an informal break together at Balmoral, The Telegraph reported. The meetings are not listed on official schedules but are considered opportunities for the monarch and his heir to speak together privately. William and Kate previously visited Balmoral with their three children in late August during the school holidays.
Their father-son trip comes after Charles met with Prince Harry for the first time in 19 months. That visit took place earlier in September at Clarence House in London. It had been the first time the duo had seen each other since February 2024, when Harry traveled to London following the King’s announcement he had been diagnosed with cancer. Neither Buckingham Palace nor the Sussexes commented on the meeting other than to confirm it took place.
