Paul Thomas Anderson is back, and his new movie One Battle After Another hits theaters this week. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Benicio Del Toro, Regina Hall and Sean Penn, One Battle After Another tells the story of Bob (DiCaprio), a ex-revolutionary that is on the hunt for his missing daughter. The movie has gotten nothing shy of rave reviews, pulling in a whopping 98% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics (and an 88% from audiences).
It’s an early favorite for Best Picture at the Oscars, with Anderson and DiCaprio also getting wild praise for their work. This is Anderson’s first movie since Licorice Pizza in 2021, and the There Will Be Blood director is expected to have the biggest debut of his career this weekend. According to reports, One Battle After Another is predicted to pull in around $25 million domestically and another estimated $25 million internationally.
DiCaprio is following up his performance in 2021’s Killers of the Flower Moon, and this is the second 2025 release for Del Toro (The Phoenician Scheme).
