Rihanna and A$AP Rocky are happily adjusting to life as a family of five with the arrival of their first daughter, Rocki Irish Mayers. People revealed the couple has only invited close friends and family over during Rocki’s first two weeks.
But they are jubilant, sources said, explaining it is a dream come true for Rihanna to have a baby girl.
Rihanna is “obviously so grateful for her boys—all three of them [partner A$AP Rocky and sons RZA and Riot]—but she’s been ready for some more girly energy. She’s over the moon about her baby girl,” one source said.
The insider added, “It’s already brought a whole new energy to the family. She’s always dreamed of having a little girl. She’s been shopping a lot and is so excited about dressing her daughter. It’s a whole new world for her.”
The source said that, overall, Rocki is “everything she hoped for.”
A second source said Rocky feels the same way: “They’re so happy to finally have a girl. They’ve wanted this for a while and can’t believe it actually happened.”
“They love that RZA and Riot get to grow up with a little sister, all so close in age,” the insider continued. “Ri’s always wanted a big family, and she’s excited to do all the girl stuff. Rocky’s just been saying he feels lucky.”
Rocky spoke to ELLE in his October cover story about how he and Rihanna had been praying for their third baby to be a girl. “I hope it’s a girl. I really do. We’re praying for a girl,” he said.
“Our first time, we wanted to know the sex of the baby,” he added. “The second time, we didn’t want to know. Third time, we don’t want to know until, you know.” Still, he was optimistic: “I feel like it’s going to be a girl. This pregnancy is so different from the other two. You can tell from the experience. I hope it’s a baby girl, man. I need that.”
Rihanna announced Rocki’s arrival on September 24, sharing that her daughter was born on September 13.
