Good news has arrived for fans of The Diplomat. The Netflix series starring Keri Russell as diplomat Kate Wyler is confirmed to return for a fourth season. The news comes ahead of season 3, which will premiere on Oct. 16, 2025. Here’s what we know so far about season 4.
Who will be in the cast?
Russell, Rufus Sewell, David Gyasi, Ali Ahn, Rory Kinnear, and Ato Essandoh are set to reprise their roles in season 4. Allison Janney and Bradley Whitford have also been promoted to series regulars.
“Working with Allison and Brad, watching them together again, and the off the charts foursome that is them with Keri and Rufus… it’s an insane bag of candy,” series creator, showrunner, and executive producer Debora Cahn told Tudum. “Our expectations were high and it blew right past them.”
“I was thrilled when I heard that Debora was interested in me doing something,” Whitford previously told Tudum. “I had no idea what it was, but I love the show. I was jealous of the writing on this show. I love Keri. I love Rufus. And I hear Allison Janney is good at acting too. It’s an amazing cast.”
“Brad was the fantasy version of Todd—for all of us,” Cahn said. “We still can’t believe it came true.” Executive producer Janice Williams added, “Bradley was the perfect addition to what is already a dream cast.”
When will The Diplomat season 4 come out?
A release date hasn’t been set yet, but production is slated to begin this fall.
