Rapper Cardi B Becomes the New Voice of the New York City Subway System: ‘Ride Safe!’

Rapper Cardi B has never been shy about being a born and raised New Yorker, and now she’s set to be the voice behind her fellow city dwellers’ daily commutes.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) made a post on its official Instagram account on September 23 announcing that Cardi B will be the voice of some of their new public service announcements (PSAs) within the subway system.

“We teamed up with NYC’s own @iamcardib on PSAs that will play in subway stations across our system,” the caption announced.

The video showed the rapper using the MTA subway system alongside clips of her recording the announcements back at the MTA offices.

“We’re walking here! Steps are for stepping, not sitting. Move it, bucko!” she shouted in one of the PSAs. “Stop subway surfing. Ride safe, keep it cute, and keep it moving!” she announced in another PSA.

Cardi B’s NYC fans seemed to be loving the unique collaboration. “THIS is how I want my taxpayer dollars to be spent. YES!!” one fan commented on the post. One fan even went so far as to comment, “The only thing the @mta has ever done right!!!”

This collaboration with the MTA comes just days after the September 19 release of her newest album “AM I THE DRAMA?”

The album title comes from the rapper’s long standing reputation for attracting drama in her life–a reputation she told Gayle King on CBS Mornings goes back to high school. In fact, she was voted “most dramatic” in her high school yearbook. However, the rapper clarified, “I didn’t think I was that much drama.”

“When you have, like, a big personality like me or when you have, like, a mouth like me or whatever aura that I give, it will follow you,” she shared in the same interview. “‘Cause it makes you, like, an easier target.”

Additionally, on September 25, Cardi B announced tour dates and released tickets for her Little Miss Drama Tour, which kicks off in February of 2026.
