Pour yourself a big glass of sweet tea, because filming for Sweet Magnolias Season 5 has officially wrapped! The Instagram account for the popular Netflix romance drama confirmed yesterday that the cameras have stopped rolling and post-production is well underway. “We’ve talked about it, prayed about it, and poured it out,” the caption says. “That’s a wrap on Season 5! Here’s a toast to our incredible cast, crew, writers, and producers — for their hard work, their passion, and their love. Have a margarita and celebrate! 🥂 And for the fans: We can’t wait to welcome you back to Serenity.” In true Sweet Magnolias fashion, the cast and crew celebrated the end of filming the 10-episode season, which first started in early June, by “pouring it out” over iced-cold drinks garnished with lemon slices and heart-shaped strawberries.
On their personal Instagram accounts, many of the on-screen stars opened up about the end of filming. Jamie Lynn Spears, who plays Noreen Fitzgibbons, got candid about the mix of emotions she felt after the group finished shooting their scenes. “That’s a wrap on S5 of SWEET MAGS, and it’s bittersweet, bc we can’t wait to get it finished and share it with yall, but we miss our sweet mags family so much when we wrap shooting,” she wrote. “I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to get to be a part of this show, and all the wonderful humans who bring it to life. Can’t wait for y’all to see Season 5, and we can all #POURITOUT together.”
For the past four seasons, fans have been closely following lifelong best friends Maddie (JoAnna Garcia Swisher), Dana Sue (Brooke Elliott), and Helen (Heather Headley) as they navigate their personal lives and career milestones in the charming small town of Serenity, South Carolina. With its tight-knit friendships, heartfelt storytelling, cozy atmosphere, and stunning scenery, Sweet Magnolias has cultivated a major fan base—and they’re excited to stay along for the ride of Season 5. Although Netflix hasn’t revealed much about the upcoming plot, the best friend trio was spotted shooting scenes at Grand Central Station in New York City and in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia, hinting at a possible location change and new storylines for the next season.

Fans can also expect to see a few new faces appear onscreen during Season 5 of Sweet Magnolias. Netflix’s news site Tudum announced at the end of July that Jamie-Lynn Sigler is joining the cast as Nell Winters, a writer Maddie befriends in New York, and Janice Wesley will be starring as Miss Eustice, a Serenity matron. On the business side of things, Courtney Grace will play Courtney Sinclair, Ronnie’s new business partner, and John Gabriel Rodriquez has been cast as Clark Bellson, a rival business owner in Serenity. Aidan Merwarth, Austin Woods, and Iman Benson will also grace the big screen this season.
Fans are already eagerly awaiting the release of Season 5 and all that it has in store for Maddie, Dana Sue, and Helen. While Netflix hasn’t announced the official release date yet, a What’s On Netflix report confirmed that it’s expected to air in 2026.
