We are in full swing of the ‘Ber month season. It is truly the most wonderful time of the year, complete with pumpkin spice and all things spooky. We love it so much that we celebrate what we affectionately call Nerdoween each October. In fact, October is a great time to cozy up on your couch or head to the movies with pals to watch a scary, weird, or strange TV show or film. And, if you’re wondering what’s coming your way in October 2025, don’t worry. We have a nice little list of the scary and weird things you should totally watch in anticipation of the great day known as Halloween.

If you want something that’s scary, sexy, and sinister to watch this October, then Bone Lake sounds like a vibe. This indie horror flick brings two couples to a secluded house on a lake where deception and dark secrets arise.

The famous found footage anthology series is back for another round! And this one seems like a match made in heaven because of course murderous happenings would go down on Halloween. Five short tales will bring lots of frights to viewers when V/H/S Halloween comes to Shudder.

Yorgos Lanthimos and Emma Stone team up once again for another strange film with Bugonia. Stone portrays a high-powered executive who is kidnapped by conspiracy theorists because they believe she’s an alien. Honestly, they are probably right. We will have to see what’s really going on and who intends to destroy Earth really soon.

Director Tina Romero (yes, she’s HIS daughter) delivers something fantastic for this Halloween season. This film tackles the zombie apocalypse through the lens of a group of LGBTQ survivors who have to come together to survive in NYC. And its trailer is absolutely wonderful.

Anne Rice’s Talamasca: The Secret Order

A fictional secret society from Anne Rice’s universe is coming to television soon. The series follows Guy Anatole as he joins the clandestine world of the Talamasca, an international spy agency for immortals, and uncovers his family’s hidden ties to the supernatural world. And as much as we love the Interview with a Vampire series, we can’t help but lock into this one, too.

IT: Welcome to Derry

Pennywise is back and ready to take more innocent children into his dark lair. IT: Welcome to Derry will take us back to 1962 and explore the origin story of this infamous clown and the town that he terrorizes. With connections to other Stephen King properties and blood galore, this series will probably have us in a chokehold.
