Paul Roberts, one of the most sought-after choreographers in Hollywood, has sadly died at the young age of 52.
The heartbreaking news was confirmed by his longtime partner, Phil Griffin, who shared a statement via Instagram on September 28, 2025.
“On the evening of 26th September 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer, Paul passed away gently at home, surrounded by his family. His departure, much like his life, was filled with grace,” Griffin wrote.
Following the announcement, fans and colleagues poured in with messages of support, prayers, and memories of their time working alongside the celebrated creative.
“This is heartbreaking,” shared artist Sam Smith, who collaborated with him on the 2018 The Thrill of It All tour. “My thoughts and heart is with all of Paul’s family and friends at this hard time. Paul was a light in this world. I’ll never forget his kindness and his sparkle. His magic will never leave the people he loved. Paul is Everlasting.”
Spice Girl Emma Bunton echoed the loss, writing: “My heart is broken. Being in his company was my happy place. Thinking of you @thephilgriffin sending love to you and all his family.” Bunton had the pleasure of working with him not only on her Christmas Special at the Royal Albert Hall but also during the Spice Girls’ reunion.

An Impressive Career in Dance
With more than 25 years in the industry, the choreographer worked with some of the biggest names in entertainment and on some of the largest projects in Hollywood. He originally trained at the Urdang Academy in London, one of the UK’s most respected performing arts colleges.
His credentials speak for themselves. He spent five years as a staging director for One Direction, helping shape the group’s live performances, and in 2021, he took home a VMA Moonman for his work on Harry Styles’ Treat People With Kindness music video.
His influence extended far beyond one genre or one artist. He collaborated with Katy Perry on her Unconditionally video, and worked with global icons such as Annie Lennox, Gloria Estefan, Mariah Carey, Sir Paul McCartney, and Bon Jovi.
Beloved by peers and performers alike, he is remembered for his “gentle manner” and unwavering ability to innovate, bringing a unique vision to every project he touched. His legacy will continue to inspire dancers and artists for generations to come.
