The Santa Barbara Royals Ice Hockey team earned a 4-1 victory over the Ventura Poseidon on Saturday in LA Kings High School Hockey League play.
Ventura struck first with a goal just seven seconds into the game, but the Royals’ defense dominated from that point on.
Santa Barbara held the Poseidon scoreless for the rest of the game, while goalie Dean Wendel stopped 34 shots.
On the offensive side, Easton Petersen and AJ Sweet responded with goals in the first quarter to take a 2-1 lead. That one-goal advantage held through the second period as both teams went scoreless.
Petersen then put the nail in the coffin with a pair of goals in the third period to secure a hat trick and a win for the Royals.
Santa Barbara will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 5:30 p.m. at Ice in Paradise.
