J.K. Rowling and Emma Watson’s cold war is far from over, as the author has launched a new attack on the Harry Potter star. This comes after Watson confessed on last week’s episode of On Purpose with Jay Shetty that she does not hold any grudges against the Harry Potter author and treasures fond memories with her.
J.K. Rowling addresses Emma Watson’s recent comments
J.K. Rowling has launched a fresh attack on Emma Watson after the latter’s comments about her on the Jay Shetty podcast.
The author wrote a lengthy post on her X (formerly Twitter) account about what she feels regarding the ongoing controversy and slammed Watson for showcasing performative sympathy toward her.
Rowling revealed how she has repeatedly declined invitations from journalists to comment on Watson and their ongoing cold war. The author didn’t want the 35-year-old actress to be “hounded as the result of anything I said.”
Rowling revealed on X that, on The Witch Trials of JK Rowling podcast, the Harry Potter alum passed her a note saying, “I’m so sorry for what you’re going through.” Watson’s behavior allegedly hurt Rowling, even though she had her phone number and could have called instead.
Rowling accused the 35-year-old actress of showcasing performative sympathy in the media toward her and of being “ignorant.” She wrote, “Like other people who’ve never experienced adult life uncushioned by wealth and fame, Emma has so little experience of real life she’s ignorant of how ignorant she is.”
Furthermore, Rowling added that Watson recently professing her love and respect for the author is “a change of tack I suspect she’s adopted because she’s noticed full-throated condemnation of me is no longer quite as fashionable as it was.”
Rowling ended the lengthy note by stating that she too has decided to exercise her right to free speech and will speak her mind more freely about the actress and the issues that matter to her.
