Keith Urban’s separation from Nicole Kidman didn’t come as a surprise to his friends, according to a new report.
“People close to Keith felt like the split was kind of inevitable,” a source told People on Tuesday, September 30 “It really hasn’t been a secret in their circles that Keith and Nicole have been living separately for a while now.”
“Their lives were moving in different directions, and once he quietly set up his own place, it felt like the writing was on the wall,” the source added.
A source told TMZ — which was the first to break the news that the parents to daughters Sunday, 17 and Faith, 14, were ending their marriage after 19 years – that the country star, 57, had “moved out of the family home” into “his own residence in Nashville” at “the beginning of summer.”
The Oscar winner, 58, “has been fighting to save the marriage,” a source told People, to no avail.

The Babygirl star wished her husband a happy 19th anniversary on Instagram on June 25. Fans later noticed she did not include the “Somebody Like You” singer in her August 19 post captioned, “summer memories.”
The pair spent most of the summer working: Urban has been traveling the U.S. on his High and Alive Tour, while Kidman spent the last three months filming Practical Magic 2 near London.
