Nicole Kidman revealed her new vision for the entertainment industry, ahead of her reported separation from husband Keith Urban.
The Moulin Rouge star spearheaded a Q&A panel discussion titled “Nicole Kidman: Where Art Meets Home in Nashville” at the Nashville Film Festival on Sunday, September 21.
Nicole unveiled her strategy alongside close friend and Big Little Lies co-star Reese Witherspoon to transform Nashville into a major hub for film and television production. Nashville has served as Nicole’s residence since she and her reportedly now-estranged country music artist husband purchased a farm and moved there in November 2007. Reese grew up in Nashville and returned to the Tennessee capital in 2012. It comes after reports Nicole and Keith had an unusual living arrangement for ‘months’ before the split.
“I’ll be bringing more and more production here,” the 58-year-old performer declared, according to PEOPLE. “Reese Witherspoon lives here too, and she’s one of my best besties.
“I can’t say that we will be bringing Big Little Lies here,” she quipped, referring to the forthcoming third season of her and Reese’s acclaimed HBO drama. “That’s all got to go where it is. But in terms of just, you know, there is so much room here for production.
“The crews are fantastic and the actors, and the people ….. I feel that it’s taking off and will continue to take off, so off we go. Come on, Tennessee, we’ve got this,” Nicole added.
Nicole proceeded to discuss her personal journey with shooting in Nashville. The mother-of-four filmed the inaugural season of her forthcoming Amazon Prime series, Scarpetta, in the Music City, reports the Mirror US.
Nicole said she was “thrilled” about beginning production on the crime series’ second season, describing Nashville as a city that “inspires so much creativity.”
During her panel discussion, Nicole revealed her favorite aspect of Nashville living.
“My favorite thing is the people,” she stated. “I love the Nashville people because they embraced me two decades ago and they keep making it possible for our family to have the most beautiful life here.”
Nicole wrapped up by expressing she was “incredibly grateful” to the city.
This development comes ahead of TMZ‘s initial report that Nicole and Keith were going their separate ways. The outlet revealed, in an article published on Monday, September 29, that the couple haven’t been living together “since the beginning of summer.”
TMZ reported that Nicole has been caring for their two daughters—Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban, 17 and Faith Margaret Kidman-Urban, 14—and is “holding the family together through this difficult time since Keith has been gone.”
The publication reported that the separation is one-sided and not something Nicole desires, as she is attempting to salvage their marriage. A source informed the publication that Keith has relocated from the family residence in Nashville and has his own residence in the city.
PEOPLE confirmed the breakup on September 29. A source told the publication that, “Nicole’s sister [Antonia] has been a rock and the entire Kidman family has come together to support one another.”
“She didn’t want this,” the source added. “She has been fighting to save the marriage.”
It comes after Keith Urban’s surprising net worth was revealed as the couple’s marriage collapsed into turmoil.
