Shaboozey shut down Music City, delivering a sold-out performance as part of his Great American Roadshow Tour on Sept. 29.

The five-time Grammy nominee commanded the stage for nearly two and a half hours at The Pinnacle in Nashville, keeping nearly everyone in the 5,000-person venue on their feet the entire time.

The Nigerian-American singer kicked off the night by expressing his love for the city. “This is like my second home. Thank y’all for having me,” he told fans. The night became a mixture of heart-throbbing tunes and sentimental ballads, drawing a spectrum of emotions from the crowd.

Shaboozey continued to express his gratitude between his high-production interludes and genre-bending bangers such as “Blink Twice,” Horses and Hellcats,” and his history-making tune “Tipsy (A Bar Song).”

Halfway through the show, Shaboozey, who recently launched his label American Dogwood, brought out his first signed act Kevin Powers to perform their new song “Move On.” Nashville singer-songwriter Stephen Wilson Jr. also joined him onstage as a special guest for a collaborative performance.

The evening became more personal when Shaboozey revealed that his mother, who came to Nashville for the first time, was in attendance. As he performed songs like “Amen,” he shared his favorite Bible verse and reflected on how his mother’s faith and prayers shaped his journey. He asked fans to think of their own prayer requests.

“That’s what it’s all about,” he said. “We all come from different walks of life.”

He also spoke of his love for country music and his connection with the genre. “I just try to make the music that’s speaking to me at the time. There’s nothing else to it,” he explained. He also underscored the larger implications of his music, adding that country music belongs to everyone and sharing his admiration for bluegrass and the genre’s rich history.

Later, he emphasized the historic nature of his genre-bending run in country music.

Shaboozey pointed out that very few Black artists can say they’ve been nominated for a Country Music Association Award, but that didn’t stop him from dreaming of it at the age of 17. Now, with multiple nominations and wins under his belt, he called it a dream come true.

Shaboozey was featured on Beyoncé’s 2024 album “Cowboy Carter.” The same year, Shaboozey made history with his own smash hit “Tipsy (A Bar Song).” The record-breaking tune became the longest leading No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart by a solo artist. His career has continued to soar, earning him five five Grammy nominations, CMA Awards and more.

The Roadshow is set to wrap Oct. 16 in Orlando, Florida.
