Prince William has opened up about “missing” his late grandparents during a heartfelt conversation with Schitt’s Creek star Eugene Levy in a special episode of his documentary series. Meanwhile, William recently made a parenting admission as he balances his royal and family duties.

When the actor asked if he missed Queen Elizabeth, who died in September 2022 after marking her platinum jubilee, and her husband Prince Philip, who passed away 17 months earlier, he acknowledged that he did.

“I do actually, yeah, I do miss my grandmother, and my grandfather,” he revealed to the Canadian actor, famous for his appearances in the American Pie movies in the early 2000s. It comes after Prince Harry shared William’s four-word response to news that Meghan Markle was pregnant.

Levy, who at 78 is two years senior to William’s father King Charles, was welcomed to meet William at the castle for a private guided visit as part of a new installment of his Apple TV+ show The Reluctant Traveler, entitled Living The Royal Life In The UK.

The 43 year old Prince of Wales told him that the Queen, with whom he shared a particularly strong bond, was constantly in his thoughts when he was at Windsor Castle, reports the Manchester Evening News.

“It’s been quite a bit of change, so you do sort of, you think about them not being here any more, and particularly being in Windsor, for me Windsor is her. She loved it here, she spent most of her time here”, reports the Mirror.

In the show, Levy, best known for his comedy work, is shown arriving in London before getting a written invitation from Prince William to accompany him at the castle – and to dress suitably for a dog walk.

The pair chat in a relaxed fashion as they wander through the structure and meander across the estate, with William disclosing to the TV host that the walkthrough he’s offering has been significantly influenced by his late grandmother.

“Showing you around today is very much a case of trying to make sure I’m doing it in the way she’d want you to see it,” he explains.

“She had her horses here as well, as you can imagine that was a big deal for her so that’s why she loved it here.”

In clips released last week, William was spotted savoring a beer at a local tavern with Levy, where he admitted that 2024 had been “the hardest year I’ve ever had” following his wife Catherine’s and his father’s cancer diagnoses.

“Life is said to test us as well and being able to overcome that is what makes us who we are,” he reflected.

Their joint encounter, filmed in February, becomes available from Friday and follows William’s brother Harry’s four-day UK trip earlier this month, during which he reconnected with his father, King Charles, for the first time in two years but steered clear of meeting William.

The future monarch has previously discussed his connection with his “grannie”, with whom he shared countless vacations and who stood by him through his mother Diana’s death.

After the Queen’s passing, he stated: “She was by my side at my happiest moments. And she was by my side during the saddest days of my life.”

Royal historian Robert Lacey disclosed that Queen Elizabeth II has been grooming Prince William for his future kingship since he was a child.

“When William became a teenager, she would have him at Windsor Castle and would open the state boxes and guide him through the papers,” he detailed last year. “It was William’s constitutional education.”
