Biographical Drama, Last Days Releases Its First Trailer

The Biographical Drama, Last Days, has finally released its first trailer. The film is based on a true story and follows the missionary John Allen Chao on his quest to convert the people of North Sentinel Island to Christianity. However, anyone who knows John’s story also knows his mission doesn’t go as planned.

The North Sentinelese people are one of the last remaining undisturbed indigenous tribes on the planet. They have remained extremely secluded, with little to no contact with the world around them. The North Sentinelese people are extremely protective of this peace, and typically react violently to anyone who dares disturb their home.

Nevertheless, John Allen Chao, an American missionary, believed it was his mission to bring Christianity to the secluded island. He would famously breach the protective order surrounding the island. He hired a local fisherman to ferry him to the secluded island and leave him there. Unfortunately, the North Sentinelese did not react kindly to his advances, and he was never heard from again. All that remains of Chao’s journey is a solitary diary describing his final days on the island.

The film, Last Days, is slated to tell both sides of the story and provide an insightful look into the life of John Allen Chao and his various preparations to contact the indigenous Sentinelese people. The movie is set to release this month, on October 26th. Regrettably, the film has not been well-received by critics. Many have stated that in its attempt to tell every side of the story, it loses the opportunity to provide a solid narrative.

Several critics have also complained that the story heavily dramatizes events instead of providing a more objective approach. That said, it will be up to fans to decide whether or not the biographical drama is worth watching once it hits theaters on the 26th.
