Former ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ Actor Shares Glimpse of Selena Gomez, Benny Blanco’s Wedding

Selena Gomez’s big day included a familiar face from her Disney Channel past.

David DeLuise — who played Gomez’s TV dad Jerry Russo on Wizards of Waverly Place — attended her wedding to music producer Benny Blanco this past weekend. The actor shared a glimpse of the celebration on Instagram on Thursday, delighting fans who were touched to see the long-standing friendship between the former co-stars.

“It was a perfect day, full of love and joy,” DeLuise wrote in his caption. “My wife @jules_rules_berlin and I were honored to attend, and we had so much fun dancing the night away at my ‘pretend daughter’s’ wedding. I’m so happy to now have a ‘pretend son-in-law.'”

In the photo dump, the 53-year-old actor shared a throwback photo with Gomez, as well as multiple photos with his wife, actress Julia Stoepel, and Jennifer Stone, who played Harper in the Disney Channel TV series.

DeLuise also highlighted how “wonderful” it was to dance with Stone and Maria Canals-Barrera, who played Gomez’s mom on Wizards of Waverly Place, as well as spending time with Taylor Swift, who has been a close friend of the “Who Says” singer since 2008.

Gomez and Blanco got married last Saturday in Santa Barbara, California, in a star-studded and intimate wedding ceremony, which included Swift, Paris Hilton, Ed Sheeran and the cast of Only Murders in the Buildingand Wizards of Waverly Place. Highlights of the three-day ceremony reportedly included a barefoot first dance, a 26-piece band, a casual reception with sushi and a sundae bar and personalized wedding rings from Jacob & Co. The couple also changed into four custom Ralph Lauren pieces throughout the night.

“When I started working with Selena, she was just 14 years old. Now she’s a wife, beginning her new journey with a wonderful man by her side,” DeLuise concluded. “And hopefully one day I will be a pretend grandfather.”
