Nicki Minaj is back on social media to co-sign a message about her upcoming documentary.
On Thursday (Oct. 2), the rapper responded to a tweet from a fan who wrote, “Nicki’s documentary is going to be groundbreaking. It’s going to reshape the music industry and wake millions of people up to what goes on in that dark business.”

Nicki quote-tweeted the post with, “That’s right. @elonmusk [saluting emoji],” although its not clear what connection, if any, Elon Musk has with the project.
A six-part docuseries set to premiere on HBO Max was first announced in 2020. In 2022, it was revealed that doc was titled Nicki and would be arriving “soon,” but did not materialize.
In a December 2023 episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Nicki gave an update on the long-awaited doc, saying that her Pink Friday 2 album wasn’t finished by the time she originally planned to release the documentary.
“I didn’t want the documentary to come out without the music. That would have made no sense to me,” Nicki said in the video above.
“That network … they had to go with something else and I couldn’t force a documentary out either, so fine,” she continued. “Now we have someone—we have about two people that are really interested, and I think it’s going to be a nicer or easier experience to bridge the documentary now with the music. But I will tell you guys more about it soon. But the documentary is absolutely still coming.
Nicki said that after fans have had time to “digest” her newest music, the documentary will be a “a different level of emotional roller coaster.”
“I’m sharing stuff that probably nobody would expect me to share really in the documentary,” she said. “I mean, it’s going to be a great experience for my fans. So because the tour starts in March [2024] … I would want the documentary out prior to March, I’ll say that.”

Moments after her documentary tweet, Nicki tweeted an AI-generated image of Jay-Z with dreadlocks and balding at the crown of his head. She captioned the photo with, “Remember when jay z said he left condoms in a child’s car seat?”
She was referencing Jay-Z’s 2001 diss track “Super Ugly (I Got Myself A Gun),” which was aimed at Nas at the height of their feud.
On the track, Jay-Z raps, “I came in your Bentley backseat (Damn) / Skeeted in your Jeep (Woo) / Left condoms on your baby-seat (Woo) / Yeah, n***a, the gloves is off, the love is done.”
