Goo Goo Dolls celebrated Taylor Swift as she officially launched her new album, The Life of a Showgirl.

On Friday, Swifts around the world eagerly awaited the drop of her highly anticipated 12th studio album, which marked yet another milestone in her record-breaking career.

As for the ‘90s rock band, they made the award-winning singer’s big moment even more special by sending her a heartfelt message in celebration of the album release.

On Instagram, the band shared a throwback video of frontman Johnny Rzeznik jamming with Swift as they covered their hit song “Iris.” This was during her Speak Now World Tour in New York, where she surprised the audience with a special appearance from the Goo Goo Dolls.

“Congratulations on the new album, Taylor !!!!!” the caption read.

The comment section was filled with nostalgia as fans reminisced about the unforgettable performance.

“The way my soul would’ve left my body if I experienced this live,” one wrote.

“Reliving this throwback feels just as magical as the first time,” a follower added.

Others expressed their appreciation for the collaboration between two iconic singers.

“The ultimate collaboration!” a fan said.

“Two incredible songwriters,” a social media user chimed in.

The same goes for another fan who said, “What an honor for you both!!”

Furthermore, many admired the way the pop star delivered such a strong cover of the hit.

“WooOooo what a way to sing IRIS,” a fan shared.

“Not a huge Taylor Swift fan BUT…..She covered this very well,” a commenter remarked.

Rzeznik once spoke about his working relationship with the 14-time Grammy winner and revealed how “amazing” and dedicated she was to performing and songwriting.

“What amazes me about her is when everybody else was out starting their makeup lines and selling drinks and all that kind of stuff, she was sitting in a studio writing amazing music; she doubled down,” he told Karen Carson during Audacy’s We Can Survive.

Apart from Swift, he also discussed how iconic “Iris” was and even today, Gen Z has kept it alive, especially on social media.

“Having written a song like that, it casts a big shadow over the rest of your work,” he revealed, adding, “but that song has lasted forever. It’s crazy, it freaks me out, but I have to be grateful that song came into my life, that I was there when it happened and not someone else.”

Like the Goo Goo Dolls, the 35-year-old songstress has a catalog of timeless hits. With her newly released album, she’s adding more future classics to her already iconic repertoire.
