Sean “Diddy” Combs learned the details of his sentence after being found guilty of two prostitution charges at trial.
Diddy, 55, was sentenced to 50 months in prison on Friday, October 3, meaning he’ll stay behind bars for just over four years. The year he’s already spent in jail will count toward the total sentence. Judge Arun Subramanian also fined Diddy $500,000 and ordered five years of supervised release once the disgraced mogul leaves prison.
At the hearing, the judge urged Diddy to “make the most” of his “second chance,” saying, “There’s a true path to redemption here. What went wrong and what can be made right.”
Subramanian also praised the women who testified as “brave survivors,” telling the court, “Jane [Doe] and Cassie Ventura have been through abuse and trauma we couldn’t imagine. I can only say your families are proud of you and your children will be proud of you for coming to the court to tell you what really happened. You weren’t just talking to the jury, you were talking to the women who feel powerless.”
After Subramanian delivered the sentence, Diddy spoke to his family and fell to his knees in the courtroom.
While Diddy’s legal team continued to maintain his innocence throughout his trial, a jury ultimately delivered a guilty verdict on two charges of transportation to engage in prostitution on July 2. Each count carried a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
The jury acquitted Diddy on the additional charges of racketeering conspiracy and two counts of sex trafficking.
In September 2024, Diddy was arrested in New York and subsequently pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Following his arrest, Diddy’s attorney Marc Agnifilo said in a statement to Us Weekly that his client was “an imperfect person” but “not a criminal.”
“Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts,” Agnifilo added. “These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”

Following Diddy’s arrest, he remained behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, until his trial, with his repeated attempts at bail all denied. The proceedings began on May 5 and focused primarily on the allegations of Diddy’s ex-girlfriend Cassie and an unnamed Jane Doe. Cassie, 39, took the stand during the trial to recount the alleged sexual and physical abuse she suffered at the hands of Diddy throughout their on-and-off relationship, which spanned from 2007 to 2018.
Jury deliberations started on June 30 and concluded after less than three days. Following the verdict, Diddy’s attorney requested his immediate release from prison on a $1 million bond, asking that he be allowed to return to his Miami Beach home on Star Island. The prosecution, meanwhile, opposed the idea. A judge ultimately ruled that Diddy remain behind bars until his sentencing.
Diddy’s legal team requested an acquittal or new trial in July, but the judge formally denied his request on Tuesday, September 30, following a hearing the week prior.
Subramanian wrote in a judgment that the “government proved its case many times over” in its federal case against the star. “That by itself might be enough to dispose of Combs’ challenge,” the judge determined.
