Jane Lynch has multiple Emmys, but she recently shared which one she felt was given to her due to her celebrity status.
The Celebrity Weakest Link host discussed her career on Melissa Rivers’ Group Text podcast. Rivers asked the actress which of her Emmys she was most proud of — and which one she thought she didn’t deserve.
Regarding the latter, Lynch chose her win for Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series in 2017. She received the award for her role as Olivia Vanderstein in the web series Dropping the Soap.
“I don’t know that I didn’t deserve it, but I think I got it because I was one of the only celebrities in these shorts,” Lynch said.
The Best in Show star said that she was grateful for the win because it directed more people to watch the shorts. However, she speculated that Emmy voters likely skipped over some series because there were no celebrities in them.
“I felt good about my work, but I think it was one of those things that it was kind of a celebrity gimme,” Lynch said of the win.

Her most meaningful Emmy win, on the other hand, was her first award for her role as Sue Sylvester on Glee. She played the cutthroat cheer coach for all six seasons of the show, which ran from 2009 to 2015. Lynch won in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series category in 2010.
She said she was happy to win for “that show, that part that I loved so much.” Lynch has also won two Emmys as the host of Hollywood Game Night and for a guest role on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
