Taylor Swift responded to the mixed reactions surrounding her latest record, “The Life of a Showgirl,” in full style. The 14-time Grammy-winning artist released her 12th studio album last week, drawing inspiration from her record-breaking Eras Tour and her relationship with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

Appearing on “The Zane Lowe Show” on Tuesday, October 7, Swift said she welcomes all the chatter surrounding her new music.

“I mean, I welcome the chaos. The rule of show business is, if it’s the first week of my album release and you are saying either my name or my album title, you’re helping,” she said, addressing the whirlwind of online debates.

Swift didn’t shy away from the topic. Instead, she offered a cheeky response: “I have a lot of respect for people’s subjective opinions on art,” she quipped. “I’m not the art police.”

“Everybody is allowed to feel exactly how they want about my music,” she said, adding that art is always open to interpretation. Swift described the process of creating “The Life of a Showgirl” as deeply personal, saying it allowed her to explore a lighter, more playful side of herself.

“Our goal as entertainers is to be a mirror. Often, an album is a really, really wild way to look at yourself, right?” she told Zane Lowe. “What you’re going through in your life is going to affect whether you relate to the music that I’m putting out at any given moment.”

The singer shared that the album’s creation was delightful because it let her “be flirty and fun and make jokes.”

Swift stands strong behind her new album and takes pride in the work she’s created. “I have such an eye on legacy when I’m making my music. I know what I made. I know I adore it.”
