Meghan Markle was called out by fans for misusing a kitchen gadget as she promoted her latest product launch.
On October 3, Meghan, 44, quietly debuted a collection of jams on her lifestyle website, As Ever. However, it was the way she was holding the jar lifter that really had people talking.
“She’s obviously NEVER canned! How could she not understand the slippery wooden handles aren’t for holding the jars???” one critic commented on Reddit after photos showed the duchess holding the item upside down.
“Anyone else thinking that that pot isn’t even hot?” another questioned.
A third added, “This woman has no idea what she‘s doing!”
Others voiced concern for Meghan as the misuse could be dangerous.
“This can actually be dangerous. Boiling water, steam, hot jar contents and potentially broken glass are nothing to play around with,” a fourth user wrote.
The relaunch of her jam collection was timed with the debut of her namesake wine.
“We heard you missed us. We’re back…and we brought a friend,” she captioned an October 3 Instagram post about the launch.
As Ever was formerly known as American Riviera Orchard before rebranding in Spring 2025. The product line includes a curated collection of jams, teas, wines and “a collection of products, each inspired by her long-lasting love of cooking, entertaining, and hostessing with ease.”
