When country superstar Dolly Parton’s sister asked for prayers for the singer on Facebook this week, it set off a firestorm of worry.
On Tuesday, Oct. 7, Dolly’s sister, Freida, 68, asked for “prayers” for Dolly, 79, on social media, sending many fans into a panic.
But the situation has been clarified since then. And while Dolly is apparently ill, she’s suffering from a very curable ailment, according to E News online.
Here’s what to know.
What’s wrong with Dolly Parton?
Dolly’s manager, Olly Rowland told E News in a report today (Oct. 8) that the illness “had to do with a kidney stone Dolly addressed with fans back in September.”
At that time, Dolly cancelled dates in her Las Vegas residency. She also addressed the kidney stones when she missed the opening of a new roller coaster at Dollywood in mid-September.
“As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures,” Dolly stated on Instagram Sept. 28. “As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!”
Has Dolly’s sister, Freida said anything since asking for ‘prayers?’
Yes, Freida followed up her initial post asking for prayers in a post on Oct. 7, which came hours after her original post.
“I didn’t mean to scare anyone or make it sound so serious when asking for prayers for Dolly,” Freida stated on Facebook. “She’s been a little under the weather, and I simply asked for prayers because I believe so strongly in the power of prayer.”
What are some of Dolly Parton’s famous songs?
Some of them include “Jolene,” “I Will Always Love You,” “9 to 5,” “Coat of Many Colors,” “Islands in the Stream” (with Kenny Rogers), “Here You Come Again,” “Just Because I’m a Woman,” “Why’d You Come in Here Lookin’ Like That?” “Dumb Blonde,” and “My Tennessee Mountain Home.”
Fans were nervous this week when Dolly Parton’s sister, Freida asked for prayers for the singer. Parton is shown above back in March in Nashville, TN.
