Leave it to Jason Kelce to make his younger sibling, Travis, squirm.
On the Wednesday, October 8, episode of the New Heights podcast, the two men reviewed Taylor Swift‘s new album, The Life of a Showgirl. Of course, the brothers discussed the racy track “Wood,” which is seemingly about the 35-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s equipment.
“Wood, great great soundtrack,” the former Philadelphia Eagles player, 37, remarked, to which Travis agreed, “It’s a great song.”
“Do you feel that confident?” Jason asked. “Do you feel cocky about the song ‘Wood’?”
Travis answered “no” and said he was flattered to be mentioned in his 35-year-old fiancée’s music.
“I love that girl, so what do you mean?” Travis quipped. “Any song that she would reference me in any way…”
“It’s not just you, though,” Jason cut in. “It’s an appendage. It’s a very specific thing.”
Travis continued to play coy, telling his brother, “I think you’re not understanding the song.”
“Jesus Christ, Travis, come on!” Jason exclaimed before joking he wasn’t sure he was as well-endowed as Travis.
“‘Redwood tree ain’t hard to see.’ I thought redwood — that’s a generous word, I think,” he stated through laughter with Travis. “I think if somebody wrote a song about me, it’d be like, ‘Japanese maple sometimes can see.’”
Regardless of the lyrics, Jason admitted he was a fan of the track.
“That song’s great, though,” he gushed. “The freaking beat to that song is fantastic, and that’s right up my alley, so well done. I think it’s a great song.”
Later in the episode, the brothers revisited the song, and Jason further confessed, “I think inserting wood innuendos is always childish enough for me that I can get on board with that.”
As for Swift, she talked about “Wood” on SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up earlier this week and cheekily noted that her mom thinks it’s “about superstitions, popular superstitions, which it absolutely is.”
