Being a Hollywood A-lister is one thing, but insiders say being one of Taylor Swift’s closest friends came with a level of influence all its own. For Blake Lively, that status may have changed.
Lively nor her husband Ryan Reynolds was spotted at Swift’s wedding to Travis Kelce on July 3, a fact that would have been hard to believe just a few years earlier. It seems that the Lively’s legal case with Justin Baldoni took a toll on their friendship after the pop star was dragged into the proceedings unwillingly.

The It Ends With Us star made her first public appearance after the wedding on July 19 at the 2026 World Cup Final in New Jersey, and that’s when insiders noted how things have shifted for her. She attended the game with Kendall Glazer, Libby Glazer and Emma Gray, but they didn’t receive the royal red carpet treatment, according to Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice Substack.
“Blake is absolutely still getting invited,” the insider told Shuter. “But without Taylor, she’s no longer automatically getting the best seats, the most exclusive lounges, or the kind of VIP treatment that came with being part of Taylor’s inner circle.”
The source pointed out that Lively will “always get invited” to events because “she’s still a celebrity,” but the stakes have shifted. But there’s a difference between being a VIP and being Taylor Swift’s VIP. Hollywood notices those little details, and so does everyone watching,” they added.
Swift was allegedly used by Lively and Reynolds to put pressure on Baldoni to move forward with their rewrites on It Ends With Us. The “Shake It Off” singer was labeled one of Lively’s “dragons” in a text exchange, and Swift was highly complimentary of the new script during the infamous meeting. Per Baldoni’s countersuit, Swift began “praising Lively’s script. Baldoni understood the subtext: he needed to comply with Lively’s direction for the script.”
Of course, that involvement left Swift open to a subpoena and things only got messier from there — legally and with her friendship with Lively. Per the Daily Mail, the Grammy winner is “relieved the relationship is over” because she now “sees all the red flags” that she missed when they were friends.
Neither Lively nor Swift has publicly addressed the state of their friendship, but the speculation surrounding their reported fallout continues to fuel conversation about the complicated dynamics of Hollywood’s inner circles.
