More Zach Bryan

Zach Bryan is once again back in headlines, this time for wading into political waters with a new song preview and lyrics that references the ICE raids happening across the United States of America.

In early October, he dropped a snippet on Instagram from what’s believed to be a track called Bad News, and it has many fans talking.

“And ICE is gonna come bust down your door,

Try to build a house no one builds no more,

Kids are all scared and all alone,

The bars stopped bumping,

The rock stopped rolling,

The middle fingers rising and it won’t stop showing,

The fading of the red, white and blue.”

The moment lit a fuse in an already divided United States. As the backlash grew, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) responded by posting a controversial video captioned “We’re Having An All Night Revival” whilst using Bryan’s track Revival amid footage of ICE and Border Patrol operations.

Some fans have seen it to be a not so subtle clap back to the song’s message.

Kristi Noem, the DHS Secretary, publicly criticised Bryan’s lyrics and affirmed her disapproval of his turn into political commentary.

Bryan, a former U.S. Navy serviceman, fired back on Instagram, saying the song was written months ago and meant to reflect division, not provoke it. He insisted he’s not aligned with extremes, but instead trying to grapple with the national pulse. “Everyone using this now as a weapon is only proving how devastatingly divided we all are,” he wrote. “We need to find our way back.”

Via Instagram story Bryan stated “When you hear the rest of the song, you will understand the full context that hits on both sides of the aisle.” (TMZ)

Beyond the muddy waters of music and politics, fans are split. Some are calling Bryan’s lyrics bold and long overdue while others think he’s playing with fire. Either way it’s opening up the conversation.
