CANTON − Comedian and ventriloquist Jeff Dunham will return to the Canton Memorial Civic Center after he sold out the venue last year.
Dunham recently announced a Feb. 27 performance at the Civic Center as part of his “Artificial Intelligence” tour.
The funnyman combines standup comedy with a ventriloquist sidekick, including the characters Peanut, Walter, and the NASCAR-loving Bubba J. Dunham. He has appeared on television shows, including “Late Show with David Letterman”, “Comedy Central Presents” and “The Tonight Show.”

The comedian is also an author, writing the 2010 autobiography, “All My Selves: Walter, Peanut, Achmed and Me.” He’s also released popular comedy videos, including “Jeff Dunham: Unhinged Hollywood,” “Spark of Insanity,” “Minding the Monsters” and “Controlled Chaos,” as well as a Christmas special.

Dunham grew up in a Dallas suburb and received a ventriloquist dummy for Christmas at age 9. Drawing inspiration from Charlie McCarthy and Mortimer Snerd, the dummy partners of entertainer Edgar Bergen, Dunham became a successful ventriloquist while still in high school, according to his website.

Dunham would go on to become a record-setting entertainer, including tallying nearly 2 million tickets sold across nearly 400 venues worldwide for the “Spark of Insanity Tour.” Other credits include an NBC primetime special, “Unhinged in Hollywood.” Comedy tours have included shows in Germany, Norway, Sweden, China and South Africa.

Dunham will be performing across the country before the Canton show, beginning Oct. 25 in California, with subsequent dates in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Nevada, Pennsylvania, New York, Maine, Indiana and other states.
Tickets, starting at $82.25 for the 7 p.m. Stark County show, can be purchased at https://www.ticketmaster.com or at the Civic Center, 1101 Market Ave N in downtown Canton. Box office hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.
