Bella Hadid has been living in “unknown hell” amid her ongoing battle with chronic Lyme disease, her mother has said.

The model, who celebrated her 29th birthday this week, was rushed to hospital last month following a flare-up.

Days later, she told fans she was recovering and had returned to be gym, and then she was spotted in Paris, France, looking as chic as ever.

According to reports, Bella underwent invasive treatments at Germany’s St George Hospital, on the outskirts of Munich, which has a Lyme Specialized Center focused on using whole body hyperthermia treatment to kill the bacteria that causes the disease.

The treatment slowly raises a patient’s body temperature to 107F and maintains it for two to three hours while they are sedated.

The source said, “Yolanda is a strict parent but it’s in her best interests. Bella going to Germany was most likely Yolanda’s idea and her pushing her to go there for treatment and take time off from work to get better.

“Yolanda’s very holistic. She and the Hadid’s have a lot of money so they’re open to experimenting and doing treatments in other countries that are not FDA approved.

“They go to these insanely expensive doctors, want the best treatment and are willing to pay whatever they need to get it, especially for Bella – Yolanda doesn’t want to see her suffer like she did.”

Last month, Yolanda, who also suffers from the condition, said Bella had been struggling “in silence” for years.

“As you will understand watching my Bella struggle in silence, has cut the deepest core of hopelessness inside me,” she wrote on social media.

She added, “The invisible disability of chronic neurological Lyme disease is hard to explain or understand for anyone. I try to lead by example on our Lyme journey but my own pain cannot compare to watching my baby suffer.”

She continued, “To my beautiful Bellita: You are relentless and courageous. No child is suppose to suffer in their body with an incurable chronic disease. I admire your bravery and your willingness to keep fighting for health despite the failing protocols and countless setbacks you have faced.

“There simply aren’t words big enough for the darkness, the pain, and the unknown hell you’ve lived through since your diagnosis in 2013. You didn’t really live, you learned how to exist inside the jail of your own paralyzed brain.

“I am so proud of the fighter that you are. You are not alone, I promise to have your back every step of the way, no matter how long this takes. You have fought through another month of treatment and I know god is good, miracles do happen everyday. I pray for your speedy recovery my love.

“This disease has brought us to our knees, but we always get back up. We will continue to fight for better days, together.”

Bella was first diagnosed with Lyme’s disease when she was 16, and she has been experiencing symptoms of the condition since she was 14.

She contracted the bacterial infection after the was bitten by a tick. The infection can cause fever, headache, fatigue and a skin rash, and severely impacts the lives of people who suffer from it.

The Mayo Clinic explains that symptoms of Lyme disease vary and usually show up in stages – and while the condition doesn’t have a single definitive cure, it is effectively treated with a course of antibiotics.

The Bay Area Lyme Foundation estimates that more than 620,000 people are diagnosed with Lyme disease annually.
