LIVE FROM NEW YORK — “Saturday Night Live” is gearing up for Amy Poehler’s return.
Poehler, a cast member from 2001 to 2008, anchored “Weekend Update” during her tenure and has hosted twice before — once in 2010 and again in 2015 alongside Tina Fey. This marks her second solo outing as host, with musician Role Model making his debut as the musical guest.
The show kicked off its 51st season on Oct. 4 with musician Bad Bunny as host and musical guest Doja Cat performing.
“SNL” fans will be excited to know that former Staten Islander Colin Jost, the longest-serving “Weekend Update” anchor in the show’s history, is still behind the desk. Joining him for Season 51 is his longtime “Weekend Update” co-anchor, Michael Che, along with familiar faces Kenan Thompson, Chloe Fineman, Bowen Yang and Mikey Day.
They’ll be joined by Andrew Dismukes, Marcello Hernandez, James Austin Johnson, Sarah Sherman, Ashley Padilla and Jane Wickline, as well as five new featured players: Ben Marshall, Tommy Brennan, Jeremy Culhane, Kam Patterson and Veronika Slowikowska.
Heidi Gardner, Ego Nwodim, Devon Walker, Michael Longfellow and Emil Wakim have all departed, along with several writers, including Celeste Yim and Rosebud Baker.
