Ozzy Osbourne Discusses Sex Addiction, Affair In Memoir Finished Just Days Before His Death

The Prince of Darkness is speaking from beyond the grave—sort of. Less than three months after Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne died at the age of 76, a new memoir by the rocker, Last Rites, offers a peek into his life.

In the book, out October 7, Ozzy wrote about the sex addiction and infidelity that led him and wife Sharon to separate briefly in 2016. He was seeing “a load of women on the side,” he said, explaining that he was “filling a void” with the affairs. Soon though, he felt “trapped,” and like he could not stop seeing the women for fear they’d speak to the press, People reported.

“Sharon was like, ‘What the f— did you expect, Ozzy? If you’re seeing enough women, one of ‘em’s gonna want more. And that’s the one who’s gonna bring the whole thing crashing down on everyone’s heads,’” wrote the musician, who shared daughters Aimee, 42, and Kelly, 40, and son Jack, 39, with Sharon. (Ozzy was also a father to three children from his first marriage to Thelma Riley.) “I broke my wife’s heart, and I’m lucky she forgave me. I just hope all the people I hurt know how sorry I am—including the kids, who were badly affected. And that’s all I wanna say about any of that, ‘cos bringing it up just causes more pain.”

During his and Sharon’s separation, Ozzy entered rehab. “Over the last six years, I have been dealing with a sex addiction,” he told USA Today at the time, and Sharon confirmed that his treatment consisted of three months of outpatient therapy followed by three more months of inpatient therapy.

Other topics covered in Last Rites include his declining health and his final performance with Black Sabbath in July. Upon the book’s release, Jack confirmed that Ozzy finished the final chapter “just a few days before he passed.”
